The SPD was designed to highlight the work and career of filmmaker Christopher Nolan. I am a big fan of the filmmaker and his movies and wanted to showcase the article laid out with original artwork to match his filmography. The front cover has simple imagery but provides a unique portrait of Nolan in a black and white photo that has small, detailed illustrations around the figure that go with his films. I turned the head of Christopher Nolan upside down and paired these images with him to match the complex nature of his films throughout while using various fonts from his film titles to create the collage style look for his name in the headline.  The illustrations were all hand drawn with pen and ink on the interior. The illustrations are intentional in what they are to break up the text with distinct images like the spitfire plane from Dunkirk or characters from the film Tenet running up the side of the building. The goal was to showcase the iconic imagery and characters of his film in a distinct hand drawn style that breaks up the text of the article in an intriguing way.
